Lehrveranstaltungen Sommersemester 2026

Non-Discrimination and Equality Law, Sophie Girardini [Englisch]

This course aims to provide students with an insight into the main concepts of equality and non-discrimination law, looking not only at the national German level but European and international levels as well. In this course, we will study different legal systems and human rights mechanisms addressing discrimination, focusing on Germany, the Council of Europe, EU and UN mechanisms. The primary objective is to understand different legal approaches to tackling discrimination, and incorporating feminist, critical legal and intersectional approaches into analysing these differences. This course is particularly suitable for students that are interested in learning theoretical underpinnings of equality law and gaining insight into human rights frameworks for implementation of equality law on the ground. The course is intended to complement the German legal training, the ERASMUS program or participation in clinical legal trainings such as the Feminist Law Clinic and Refugee Law Clinic.

Fundamentals of Public International Law in the 21st Century, Júlia Miklasová, [Englisch]

This course introduces the principal doctrines and foundational concepts of public international law, including subjects, law-making processes, enforcement mechanisms, fundamental principles, jurisdiction, and immunities. It situates these topics within contemporary transformations that challenge some of international law’s core assumptions. Each session exemplifies a specific thematic issue through the analysis of a selected judicial decision or a contemporary real-world case study.
