Igor Popovic
Igor received his law degree from University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Law (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and he works at the same faculty as a Senior Teaching and Research Assistant. Prior to joining the academia, Igor worked as an associate at an attorney’s office and in banking industry. He holds LL.M. from the University of Belgrade where he pursues his Ph.D. studies researching on the interaction between freedom of expression and the Internet. He passed a bar exam in 2020.
Igor is the co-founder of the Human Rights Week, an annual event at Banja Luka Faculty of Law. He is also a coach for regional moot-court competitions in human rights, and a judge at the European Rounds of Monroe Price Media Law Moot Court Competition.
Igor is passionate about public speaking and he holds multiple awards from the annual student public speaking competition. Currently, he is one of the supervisors at the Centre for Public Speaking “Institutio Oratoria” preparing students for the competition. Igor is a visiting lecturer at Sarajevo Law School for Legal Rhetoric course. He is a permanent lecturer for judges and prosecutors at the Centre for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of Republika Srpska.
Igor has worked with international governmental and non-governmental organizations like OSCE, COE, and KAS. He acted in capacity of a representative or adviser in cases before the ECtHR and domestic courts related to human rights and constitutional law.
His research at the Academy is being funded by the Scholarship from the European and International Cooperation Department of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V.
